Welcome to Paris
After a long crossing of The Pond through the night, and a near miss by Charlie and Jane — whose Icelandair flight was delayed long enough to make their connection kind of a nail-biter — we checked in to our Air BnB and crashed for the night.
Ten hours later, we were ready to see Paris the easiest and most convenient way — the “hop on, hop off” big, red bus. This is definitely the way to cover a lot of territory when you are just starting out, completely confused, and still thinking American. Two hours on the bus gave us every major landmark, the names of all city neighborhoods, a nice breeze, and a little bit of a sunburn. Now we know where we want to go and what we want to visit in the coming days.
So, hello to the Seine River, to Mr. Eiffel’s famous tower, to the Louvre, to the Pont Neuf, to the obelisk, to the Garnier Opera House, and to the Cathedral of Notre Dame. We’ll be back for a better look and a stroll soon, but first we need a sandwich.
