How it all started

1988 Pickup Camper

Our family has long enjoyed travel. It all began in 1988 when we joined two families together Brady Bunch style blending our three children in a new home and taking to the road on our first cross-country trip together.

We stuffed ourselves in grandpa Mel’s pickup camper and set off west through the Black Hills, Yellowstone, Jackson Hole and the rockies.

1989 The Coachman Crusader

Needing more room for the growing children we rented a small RV and headed east through the Smokey Mountains, out to Cape Hatteras, Washing DC, and Dayton, Ohio. We traveled with our good friends Charile and Jane and their two girls. What fun!

1990 Winnebago

Once again opting for a lager RV we headed west again through Glacier Park, the Cascade Mountains, a visit to Mike’s old beekeeping home in Kettle Falls Washington, Mt. Rainer, Seattle and visit to Mike’s old friend Jack Thornton on the Olympic Peninsula.

1991 Allegro

Needing yet a bigger RV we loaded the Allegro and headed north through the Porcupine Mountains, Fayette, Michigan, Sault Ste. Marie, Mackinac Island, White Fish Bay with a final destination of Toronto, Canada

1996 Italy

Our first trip ever to Europe without GPS, cellphones or children.

Photos here.

After that all of our European trips where with groups of friends.
